I run out of biscuits. That is, I have been spending a miserable week trying various french alternatives, but none of them comes even far from the Tarallucci, the mythical "node 97" by Barilla: http://www.mulinobianco.it/node/97
Of course I've been having Tarallucci for breakfast since 1978, when first launched.
In France, however, Barilla decided not to distribute them (they sell the "pasta" however).
Therefore saturday, after closing down the photo store, instead of heading for the beach i reached the SNCF station for a trip to Italy, to a place called 20miles (ventimiglia).
The trip is 40km, so if the train travels at 80 km/h it should have taken about 1/2 hours.
At the Nice station, however, all trains were listed as ending in "Monaco Montecarlo". What ? No Ventimiglia ?
Desole, messieur, il y a un changement in Montecarlo, il faut attendre 3/4 heur.
The explanation was given to us upon arriving in Ventimiglia, 1 hr 45 minutes later:
Buying 8 packs of biscuits took me 12 minutes at the store, 3 minutes more that the period the (only train travelling Montecarlo to Ventimiglia) stationed at the station. I had to wait for the "next" (?) one.
So, i've spent some 1 hr "walking" in Ventimiglia with my precious bag:
And I must have been very envy (or envyed?) - with all those biscuits - as most people would turn around to look at my bag.
The return train took another 2 hrs, travelling at about 20 Km/h on the only truck in service...
all in all, I left Nice at 14.45 and was back at 20.00. I guess next time I'll rent a canoe.
